48 different Sets of Objectives and Constraints (SOCs) defined in 2014

The overall aim of WP4 is to conceive and assess under real vineyard conditions the cost-benefits relationships of new practices and management systems aiming at adapting viticulture to climate change, at reducing pesticide application and at optimizing precision viticulture practices. WP4 designs new management systems by integrating knowledge gained in InnoVine and by capitalising on already existing projects (FP7 PURE, Spanish CENIT DEMETER, French EcoViti, and European CORE ORGANIC II). A design-assessment cycle has been adopted to ensure validation and improvement of the innovative sustainable vineyard systems. The first step achieved in 2014 was to define Sets of Objectives and Constraints or SOCs (i.e. level of pest and disease pressure, soil characteristics, objectives of production) for the main types of European viticulture, interacting with relevant stakeholders. 48 different SOCs which are still under improvement were defined: France (24), Spain (18), Germany (1), Italy (4) and Bulgaria (1).
