The InnoVine consortium is composed of 27 partners combining the expertise of more than 100 grape and wine researchers or producers. Partners come from 7 European countries concentrating most of the European vineyards surface and contrasted environmental, economic and societal conditions.
The teams involved cover a wide range of scientific disciplines in viticulture (e.g. grapevine genetics and breeding, physiology, ecology, epidemiology, pathology) and technical expertise in statistics, phenotyping, databases, modelling, DSS and development of monitoring devices. About half of the partnership is public, and half is composed of private organisations, including SMEs, a large winery company and a nursery cooperative.

IRSTEA (previously known as CEMAGREF) is a French public research institute devoted to agricultural and environmental engineering. It is split in three departments covering water and land management, and agricultural issues. Among them, the “Ecotechnologies” Department is involved in technological developments for sustainable agricultural systems. The ITAP (Information and Technology for Agro Processes), located in Montpellier, is a joint laboratory with AgroM, the French Faculty of Agronomy, which is a world-wide leader in viticulture. ITAP has a team of about 40 scientists and engineers, 15 among them being specialized in optical sensor development, image processing, spectrometry and chemometrics, as well as computer science for spatial data fusion and expert knowledge representation, with a long experience of optical sensors development for vineyards management.
IRSTEA will be involved in WP5, aimed at developing new usage of its own smartphone prototype technology to evaluate visual quality of leaves and grapes, by using smartphone embedded camera. Collected data’s will be shared across GSM network to produce real-time information’s for DSS. IRSTEA will carry out tests and development of new functionalities with the IFV expertise.
