The InnoVine consortium is composed of 27 partners combining the expertise of more than 100 grape and wine researchers or producers.  Partners come from 7 European countries concentrating most of the European vineyards surface and contrasted environmental, economic and societal conditions.

The teams involved cover a wide range of scientific disciplines in viticulture (e.g. grapevine genetics and breeding, physiology, ecology, epidemiology, pathology) and technical expertise in statistics, phenotyping, databases, modelling, DSS and development of monitoring devices. About half of the partnership is public, and half is composed of private organisations, including SMEs, a large winery company and a nursery cooperative.

 FORCE-A is a start-up company created in 2004 located in Orsay, France. FORCE- A designs and commercializes innovative plant diagnostic tools and solutions for real-time crop monitoring and management, dedicated to precision viticulture. FORCE-A’s Multiplex and Dualex optical sensors can assess the physiological, health and maturity status of grapevine through its intrinsic fluorescence properties. Vehicle-mounted Multiplex delivers on-the-go high resolution maps of grapevine plots, in order to assess the spatial variability of plant status indicators, such as vigor, nitrogen deficiencies, disease susceptibility, presence of diseases and grape maturity. Continuing developments of FORCE-A’s expert systems contribute to user-friendly data management. The company is involved in several national grapevine-related programs (VINNEO, DEFISTIM) and in the CROPS European project.


FORCE-A will participate to i) WP1 by in situ and in real-time monitoring of berry quality; ii) WP2 by assessing grapevine resistances/susceptibility to diseases at the plot level, and by developing means for early detection of diseases; iii) WP3 by providing high-throughput optical phenotyping tools; iv) WP4 and WP5 contributing to DSS design and validation. In WP1 to WP4, FORCE-A will bring its expertise in defining the appropriate protocols and trials for the temporal and spatial characterization at the canopy and fruit levels, providing the partners with appropriate optical tools and by processing the data. FORCE-A will both profit from the exploitation and will contribute actively to the dissemination of the results of InnoVine.

Dr Jean-Luc Ayral, founder and CEO, head of diagnostic application department. 25 years of professional experience in the field of optical instrumentation for industrial and scientific applications. Expertise: optical sensors, strategic marketing, business development.

Dr Zoran G. Cerovic, co-founder and scientific advisor of FORCE-A. As a research fellow with the CNRS (French National Research Organization) he is leading the research team on Plant Biospectroscopy  at  the  University  Paris-XI  in  Orsay.  Expertise:  biospectroscopy,  plant fluorescence, physiology, optical indicators of plant status.

Dr Naïma Ben Ghozlen,grapevine project manager. Expertise: project management, development of Dualex and Multiplex applications, data acquisition protocols and analysis, optical indicators, diagnostic models.

Dr El-Mostafa Fadaili, data processing manager. Expertise: temporal and spatial data processing, mapping, Internet platform design and validation.
